Miranda Kent was raised in the Southwest, and has many glorious memories of
beautiful sunsets, purple mountains, amazing Mexican food, being stung by a
scorpion on the big toe, putting her hand in a Prickly Pear cactus (which was later
removed with pliers), and finding a Rattle Snake in the bathtub. Perhaps the drama
of the desert led her to the stage. Who knows? But the theatre called at the age of
seven, and Miranda never really considered doing anything else.
Miranda was one of those annoying kids who went to performing arts camp,
performing arts junior high, performing arts high school, all of which culminated in
four years at New York University’s Tisch School of The Arts and a B.F.A in acting. Miranda loved New York
and spent several years doing plays on and off Broadway, working in Regional Theatre, and living in an
apartment the size of a pea. It was an adventure, but the bright lights and bigger apartments of Hollywood
were calling! So, she and her best friend loaded up the car, made enough tuna salad to feed an army, and
began the journey back West.
Life in Los Angeles been very rewarding. This is where Miranda began studying Improvisational Comedy, and
started performing with an improv group called Improvocative. Performing with her group has opened many
doors, and the most exciting news is Miranda is now a series regular on a totally improvised show called
“Campus Ladies!” This is Oxygen Network’s first original series, and it has already been picked up for a
second season!
It has been a really interesting journey so far, but Miranda has always believed it is the journey, not the
destination that is most exciting….Just remember, it takes a long time to drive through Texas!
